Liam Payne tragically passed away in Buenos Aires after falling from his hotel balcony. The former One Direction member will be laid to rest in the UK after autopsies and investigations are completed. He died on October 16 following the fatal fall, and local police retained his body for examination to rule out foul play.
Payne’s body is now being returned to the UK, with his father Geoff Payne and his bodyguard, who had been in Argentina since the incident, overseeing the process. The delay in bringing the body back was due to toxicology tests conducted to ensure there was no criminal involvement.
The autopsy took longer than expected due to drugs being involved, and authorities wanted to confirm that his fall was accidental and not influenced by others. There were concerns that the drugs he had consumed might have been adulterated, complicating the findings. A security source confirmed that his body has been released from the judicial morgue.
Payne’s body is expected to arrive soon, and a memorial service will follow. One Direction members, including Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, are anticipated to attend.
However, the investigation into his death continues. TMZ reported that police conducted further raids on the homes of two hotel employees and one of Payne’s friends, looking for clues on who may have provided him with the drugs. Investigators are also reviewing hotel security footage and the background of the individual who allegedly supplied Payne with substances.
